J. Lamar documented this in the Heritage of Rockdale County, GA book published 1998: Summer Hill Baptist Church is located on Miller Bottom Road, one and one half miles off Highway #138 north of Conyers.
This church came into being on May 19, 1910. The organizing pastor was the Rev. J. L. Tate. Original deacons were John Thompson, Watson T. Lamar, Robert B. Strong, and R. A. Nelum. The pastor also served as the church secretary. Summer Hill Baptist Church was organized in the Summerhill School and services were held there until the church building was erected. The first church building was constructed in 1921, during the pastorate of the first called pastor, the Rev. C. S. Jackson who served from 1910 to 1926. The current church building was constructed in 1989 under the pastorate of the Rev. Johnny Hutchinson who became pastor of Summer Hill Baptist Church in 1980.
