The last class at Bryant Street. 1959 was the first class that graduated at J.P. Carr.
Mrs. Louise Bass Hendrix, a teacher of several generations of black children in Conyers, and Mr. George Edwards, the longtime principal. Both of them began their Conyers tenures at the Bryant Street School and continued at J. P. Carr. She was a sixth grade teacher and disciplinarian who even intimidated some of the younger teachers. The photos also show the Halls. Kenneth Hall was a civic leader. His wife Carrie was the first grade teacher for a lot of us.

20th High School Reunion - This was a five day event with Tommy Mitchell hosing a swim party and picnic; night of music, dancing; and then all attending church at Pleasant Hill C.M.E. Church.

The J.P. Carr gym got a new roof, new floor, new bathrooms and expanded space for handicapped users of the building. Electrical wiring of the building will be brought up to code and heating and air conditioning will be installed for the first time in years.
