E.R. SHIPP, assistant professor at Columbia's Graduate School of Journalism, has won the 1996 Pulitzer Prize for commentary. Her writing in The New York Daily News was cited as "penetrating columns on race, welfare and other social issues."
The Pulitzer Prizes are the most prestigious awards made annually in journalism, letters, drama, and music. The judges include many of the most outstanding names in journalism, the academic world, and the arts. The Pulitzer Prize Board selects the winners.
