Pleasant Hill Colored Methodist Church, now known as Pleasant Hill Christian Methodist Episcopal Church was organized in 1872. This building in which the congregation worshipped was purchased from Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as the First United Methodist Church of Conyers.
The newly purchased edifice was rolled up Main street to it's new location on Pleasant Circle. The building was enlarged in 1919, under the leadership of REverend B.J. Coler and the trustees which included: J.I. Ingram, G.W. Smith, O.L. Sanders, W.M. Latimore, W.M. Grant, W. T. Lucas, R.J. Hamm, W.M. Edwards and R.W. Woods.
The Reverend Parker Joyner, who pastored the church in the late 60's, organized a building fund for the purchase of rebuilding a much needed church home. This marked the beginning of a real effort to build a new church.
On March 31, 1973, the church was completely destroyed by the tornado which struck Conyers. At the time, the pastor, Reverend R.L. McLaughlin, officers and members, put forth every effort to replace the church building. Citizens of the community also cooperated in helping to replace the church. With total efforts of the entire membership, citizens of local and national communities, and God's help we were able to enter into our new beautiful edifice.
