Was the first African American to run for the Conyers City Council in 1965. He did not win. He went on to establish and serve as President of the Conyers Voters League; participated in the SNICK sit-ins in Atlanta; and served as Director of Data Processing at the Atlanta University Center 1965-1999.
Ran for Conyers City Council in 1971 and lost in a run-off. He was also a businessman. He was the first African American in Conyers to own an Automobile Service Station and Repair shop.
Councilman Cleveland Stroud was elected to the Conyers City Council in 1994. He serves the citizens of District 1.
